Wedding at The 1901 Victorian | Layni + Trevor
Some wedding days are joyful, some are emotional, and some manage to be both at once in the most honest way. Layni and Trevor’s wedding was exactly that. Full of love, laughter, tears, and meaningful moments that stayed with everyone who witnessed them.
On November 16th, I had the opportunity to second shoot this wedding at The 1901 Victorian in Waller, Texas, a beautiful Victorian home rented through Airbnb. I was honored to be there as a representative of @honeyrosephoto, documenting a day that felt deeply personal and full of heart.
Victorian Home Wedding Venue
The 1901 Victorian set the tone for the entire day. With its historic charm and cozy layout, the home created an intimate environment where guests felt close, connected, and present. It was the kind of space that naturally encouraged conversation, shared moments, and lingering hugs.
Layni and Trevor chose to host their wedding at the house, allowing the day to unfold slowly and organically, without the pressure of moving from place to place. It felt warm, welcoming, and grounded from start to finish.
Traditional Wedding Ceremony with Intimate Prayer
Before the ceremony, the officiant, a lifelong friend of Layni, shared a quiet moment of prayer with two family members. It was a grounding pause that set a calm, intentional tone before the ceremony began.
Layni was then escorted down the aisle by both her dad and stepdad, a meaningful moment that reflected the care and support surrounding her.
Their ceremony itself was traditional, heartfelt, and filled with intention. Surrounded by family and close friends, they exchanged vows in a way that felt sincere and deeply rooted in their commitment to one another.
Outdoor Reception with Family, BBQ, and Dancing
After the ceremony, the celebration truly began outside under tents. The evening was filled with drinking, dancing, and joyful chaos in the best way. Dinner was barbecue, served casually and generously, giving everyone the chance to relax and enjoy themselves.
Layni and Trevor also took photos with a vintage car, adding a playful and timeless touch to their wedding portraits. The laughter during this part of the day was contagious, and the joy felt effortless.
Handmade Wedding Details and Honoring Family
Several personal touches made the day even more special. One of their siblings handmade a cake topper designed to look like Layni and Trevor and also created the banner that hung behind them at their sweetheart table for dinner. Their cake was a multi tiered Lambeth cake with cherries on top, adding both a homemade and elegant element to the celebration.
Layni had recently experienced the loss of her sister, and her presence was felt throughout the day in quiet, meaningful ways. Several speeches, especially those from Layni’s dad and siblings, carried deep emotion. There were many tears, shared memories, and moments of reflection, balanced beautifully by laughter and warmth.
It was a powerful reminder that wedding days can hold both grief and celebration at the same time. This one did so with honesty, grace, and so much love.
Fun and Unforgettable Wedding Moments
As the night went on, the energy only grew. At one point, both Layni and Trevor were lifted up by friends and family to do keg stands, a moment that had everyone cheering and laughing. According to Trevor, they do not drink very often, which made the moment even more fun and unexpected.
It was the perfect snapshot of the night. Unfiltered joy, surrounded by people who love them deeply.
A Real and Heartfelt Wedding
Layni and Trevor’s wedding was special not because it was perfect, but because it was real. It held celebration and sorrow, quiet prayer and loud laughter, tradition and playful spontaneity.
Being able to document a day like this, especially alongside such a thoughtful and kind couple, was truly an honor. Weddings like this are a reminder that love does not exist in a vacuum. It shows up alongside everything else, and that is what makes it meaningful.
This wedding was photographed on both digital and 35mm film. 35mm film was captured collaboratively between myself and Maddie Nicole.
